The new management at Time kicked off their bike launches in 2022 with the ADHX, which was their first real gravel bike. But the gravel sector is developing so fast, they quickly realized they needed a gravel bike with more tire clearance, which is where the Time ADHX 45 high quality carbon gravel racing bike comes in.

Increasing the tire width from 38mm to 45, the ADHX 45 automatically becomes the type of gravel bike that can handle loads more than just hardpack fire roads. It’s a bike for Unbound and any other elite gravel event. It’s also perfect for gravel adventuring thanks to the level of comfort the carbon layup introduces to the frame. That carbon layup, in fact, is one of the things that make this bike exceptional and unique. Like the original ADHX, the Time ADHX 45 incorporates Bio-Based Dyneema into the BCS weave of the carbon. They can do this thanks to their production method. Time is famous for avoiding prepeg carbon sheets, and rather builds their frames using a braided carbon structure (BCS) and resin transfer molding (RTM) process, which allows them to introduce new, advanced materials like Dyneema into their weaves to create the best frames possible. Dyneema has a tensile strength 15x greater than steel, while still being extremely light. The Time engineers have been sure to weave it in where it would do the most good: at the intersections of the headtube, downtube and top tubes. Since it is very high modulus and resists deformation, the Dyneema provides those important junction points with exceptional stiffness without compromising the weight. It means that other parts of the weave can concentrate on things like vibration absorption and weight reduction to enhance the ride comfort and race-ready performance.

Enhanced Geometry of the ADHX 45 for Stability and Comfort

Since they expect the ADHX 45 to be taken over slightly rougher stuff than the original ADHX, the designers have eased up the geometry a touch. It’s still pretty racy for anyone who’s looking to hammer the competition, but with a longer wheelbase aided by the 43cm chainstays, the ADHX 45 improves stability at speed on loose gravel. The reach and stack have been slightly modified as well to help feel more comfortable for long hours in the saddle.

What makes the Time ADHX 45 a real joy is how open to customization it is. Manufacturers are frequently reducing the number of gear options you can have for a frame, but with the ADHX 45, you can choose 1x or 2x drivetrains, 700c or 650b wheels, and if you go with 650b, you can fit up to 50mm tires. It’s compatible with mechanical and electric shifting – something that is becoming extremely rare at the high-end of bike frames. Even the seatpost is a standard 27.2mm so you are not stuck with some proprietary shape.
